iPhones in India may stop working after six months if the ongoing standoff between the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) and Apple does not come to an end.

A Tussle has been going on between TRAI and Apple over the issue of the Do Not Disturb (DND) app by TRAI. As the matter turns serious, TRAI is considering the withdrawal of the iPhone as per its revised rules and regulations, which say, "Each Access Provider must ensure that, six months' time within, that its network on all smartphone devices has been supported. The permissions required for the functioning of such apps as defined in the regulations 6 (2) (e) and regulations 23 (2) (d). "

"Provided that where notices do not permit the operation of such apps as defined in regulations 6 (2) (e) and regulations 23 (2) (d), access providers will, the order or direction of the authority, derecognize such devices from their telecom networks. "

The issue is about a DND app 2.0 which is set to be in India for all smartphone platforms."The telecom authority wants consumers to have an option to filter and block all marketing as well as promotional calls," a Deccan Chronicle report said.

The TRAI's directives were followed by Google, which allowed the app on the PlayStore, Apple did not agree with that app's requirement for access to the device information. If TRAI's requirements are not followed by Apple within six months, a full range of iPhones will be banned from India.
